Let’s see if we’re a good fit…

You are a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for.

I think that the biggest misconception about mental health is when it is it viewed in terms of absolutes: either you struggle with your mental health, or you don’t. I believe that mental health exists on a continuum, and that it is ever fluctuating for any one individual. We can never anticipate how we will be impacted by life events, and it is reasonable to expect that our mental health needs will change over the course of our life.

Mental health means having compassion, understanding, and flexibility when it comes to all parts of ourselves. It means having awareness of when we need to reach out for support or find new ways to stay well. Mental health means having the capacity to adapt to the constantly shifting experience that is living in this world, and holding kindness for ourselves as we navigate our way through.

As a therapist I provide a structured, supportive space for people to gain a better understanding of and capacity for maintaining mental health. I focus on finding a balance of supporting you in reflection and exploration, while also offering tangible tools to enhance mental wellbeing. The best insights and solutions come from my clients themselves, but sometimes it takes having that structured, supportive space, and a therapist who is able to act as an anchor amidst the exploration, for people to have the confidence to change and grow.

If you work with me, you can expect to find someone who is knowledgeable, authentic, and deeply invested in your care. I will bring a strong knowledge base from working with a wide range of populations on a wide range of mental health issues. I will also greatly value the knowledge that you bring into the room . Know that working with me will be a collaborative process, and one that I will take seriously.

I’m here for you.

Q&A

  • I realized early on that I thrive best in roles where I can support others in achieving successes.

My intent in going into social work was to work in roles that allowed me to remove barriers to mental healthcare access and work at a systems level to enact changes that allow for individual successes.

However, it was my enjoyment of building strong, therapeutic connections, witnessing individual change and growth, and holding space for human emotion that led me to individual counselling work.

I believe so strongly in the importance of prioritizing our mental well-being as part of a whole, and I have experienced both as client and therapist myself the positive impact of therapy in maintaining mental well-being.

  • I am passionate about assisting motivated young adults and adults experiencing anxiety and depression to understand their “why.”

I enjoy working to explore the foundation for anxious and depressive symptoms, particularly supporting individuals to explore their past traumas and attachment injuries.

I prioritize establishing a strong therapeutic relationship that allows us to go deeper, while using both cognitive and somatic approaches for symptom management and problem solving.

  • I want clients to know that I am always willing to explore creative approaches to make this experience work for you.

Everyone has unique needs and experiences that they bring into the room that are worth exploring, and sometimes that involves being flexible with the therapeutic process.

I also want clients to know that as confident as I am in my abilities to support them, I am aware that as one person I am not an expert on the entirety of human experience. I am always willing to own my limits of knowledge, willing to put in the work to learn where I can, and make recommendations when I feel that another provider may be better suited to meet your exact needs.

  • I feel that authenticity and honesty are two of the most important qualities in a strong therapist.

I think it is important to own the self that we bring into the room and be able to reflect on our experiences honestly.

I also believe it is important to understand that socioeconomic systems and world events greatly impact our individual mental health and be mindful of how these may affect the therapeutic process.

  • I value people who are open, honest, and have a willingness to change.

  • It is the absolute coolest thing to get to bear witness everyday to the uniqueness of human beings, sit in the intensity of human emotion and experience, and get to witness moments of growth, change and healing.

It is so incredibly powerful to sit in the pain and difficulty with someone while also getting to be excited for their wins. People are hilarious, curious, emotional and resilient, and often have way more capacity for change and growth than they believe they do.

I consider it a privilege to be able to work with people to explore positive change in their lives.
